Research Associate

The Department of Pathology, Microbiology, & Immunology at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, is seeking a part-time research associate. The researcher will join an NIH-funded inter-disciplinary project that studies diagnostic markers in fungal pathogens.  There will be many opportunities for skill enhancements and to make valuable contributions. The job encompasses assistance with oversight of the laboratory, sample management, inventory control, planning and performance of experiments, data analysis and interpretations, and scientific communications in person and in publications.

1. Perform routine laboratory procedures in fungal culture and molecular analysis
2. Maintain laboratory instrumentation and supplies, conduct inventory control, and manage laboratory purchases
3. Participate in experiment planning and performance, data analysis and interpretation
4. May be asked to perform other duties/tasks in the laboratory not listed here, but consistent with this role

(A) Education requirement:

• B.A. or B.S. or M.S. or equivalent degree.

(B) Licenses or certifications: N/A

(C) Technical/computer skills:

• Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

(D) Prior experience:

• Six months (or more) prior laboratory experience preferred
