Library Technical Assistant

The Technical Assistant is a full-time union position at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY (Westchester County) responsible for providing support to the Information Management Department in the Phillip Capozzi, MD Library and the Educational Media unit of Information Technology. The incumbent will work closely with and report to both the Assistant Director, Information Management and the Manager, Educational Media. The ideal candidate will have strong technical abilities across multiple platforms, including audio-visual.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 2pm-10pm and Friday work from home.

• Gathers and reports library resource usage statistics
• Provides poster printing services for the NYMC community
• Works on data entry projects, including the institutional repository and collection management
• Provides audio-visual support to the campus community
• Provides Zoom help for instruction, events and meetings
• Provides sound support for student events
• Participation in basic video editing activities
• Coordinates outsourced bindery services
• Completes other projects and duties as assigned

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

(A) Education requirement:  High School Diploma or equivalent

(B) Licenses or certifications: None

(C) Technical/computer skills: 

• Computer experience using Word, Excel, etc.
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes and prioritization of projects
• Detail oriented and inquisitive
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure within time constraints
• Willingness and interest in learning basic video editing

Preferred:

• College degree
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
• Excellent computer skills
• Proficiency with Zoom
• Familiarity with library functions and system
