Overview

The Neurosensory Engineering Lab in the Department of Physiology at New York Medical College is seeking an exceptional postdoctoral scientist to conduct preclinical research exploring neuromodulation using focused ultrasound. The research is concentrated on auditory neuroscience. This position involves the use of in vivo functional imaging using a variety of optical techniques including wide-field fluorescence microscopy and optical coherence tomography.

Responsibilities

  1. Plan and execute in vivo experiments combining functional optical imagingand focused ultrasound.
  2. Analyze experimental data, largely image processing and statistical analysis.
  3. Collaborate with external researchers on highly interdisciplinary projects.
  4. Work with transgenic murine models and perform basic colony management functionPrepare and publish scientific manuscripts and abstracts as well as attend meetings.

Qualifications

(A) Education requirement:

  • PhD in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or equivalent

(B) Licenses or certifications: NA


(C) Technical/computer skills:

  • Experience coding in data processing environments is required. Experience with MATLAB highly preferred.

(D) Prior experience:

  • PhD degree with at least one peer-reviewed scientific publication

(E.) Other skills/requirements

  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills;
  • Enthusiasm for working with a team
