Overview

The Division of Physical Therapy in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, housed in the School of Health Sciences and Practice (SHSP) at New York Medical College invites applications for multiple full-time faculty positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, contingent upon the qualifications of the candidate. For this position, experienced faculty with an academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD or similar) and a record of higher education teaching and research/scholarship are preferred. However, recent graduates of doctoral degree programs (PhD, EdD or similar) will be considered, as will be DPT-prepared candidates with clinical specialties who do not hold an academic doctoral degree, and evidence of the capacity to develop a research/scholarly agenda.

Strong education and research ties exist between the Division of Physical Therapy and the Division of Speech Language Pathology, the Department of Public Health, and the Institute of Public Health. The program is proud to have been one of the first in the nation to offer an embedded DPT/MPH dual degree option. The NYMC Doctor of Physical Therapy program is in a unique position to prepare students for physical therapy roles in public health. Additionally, the program utilizes the NYMC Clinical Skills and Simulation Center for teaching and learning.

New York Medical College is strategically located on a suburban NY campus in the intellectually vibrant northeast corridor close to the cultural and scientific resources of New York City. This location enhances the educational and research opportunities afforded by the region’s diversity and the College’s historic and broad involvement with socially, economically, racially, and ethnically diverse populations. New York Medical College, founded in 1860, is one of the nation’s oldest private medical and health sciences educational institutions and the first U.S. medical school to accept female students. Since 2011, the College has been a member of Touro University. Applicants should provide a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references on the NYMC job portal.
