Overview

The Senior Data Scientist and Analyst will support data science, clinical epidemiology, biostatistics and biomedical research for the Touro and New York Medical Center for College Campus Collaborative Research (CCR). The Senior Data Scientist and Analyst will provide internal consulting and technical support in study design, data science, large data sets and registries, biostatistics, managing databases, IRB submission, and manuscript drafting.  They will need expertise in the use of mathematics, epidemiology, statistics, data collection and architecture and computing in their day-to-day work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage large data sets hosted by Touro and NYMC and those which are externally available. Collect, clean, and analyze complex information. 
  • Use machine learning to perform analysis and build predictive models that solve real-world problems. Design algorithms and machine learning models to support research projects, forecast trends and spot patterns.  
  • Support and provide technical support in the role of AI in research.
  • Work with faculty, residents, fellow and students of Touro and NYMC to provide consulting and technical support inf planning, data assessment, data analysis, and interpretation of studies supported by CCR.
  • Guide study design, sample size calculation, randomization procedures, and data analysis methods, perform statistical analyses, and interpret results for researchers.
  • Generate figures and statistical tables for conference presentations and journal publications. Ensure adherence to statistical standards and best practices in research methodologies.
  • Assist in writing and reviewing study design, methodologies and statistical sections of research proposals, manuscripts, and grant applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Biostatistics or another data analysis or quantitative field.

Technical/Computer skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical methodologies, study design, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in statistical software packages including R, SAS, Python and STATA. 
  • Experience with survey software such as RedCAP. 
  • Ability to use SQL and tableau.
  • Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Prior experience:

  • Minimum of three years of related professional experience

Other Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex statistical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.

Travel:

  • Local travel to Manhattan campus average 2-3 days per week and possible out of state of travel of less than 10%.

Minimum Salary

USD $96,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $120,000.00/Yr.
