Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position provides administrative support for the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department at New York Medical College. The HR Coordinator will carry out responsibilities across multiple functional areas including but not limited to HR Operations, Benefits, and Onboarding.


  • Respond to initial employee inquiries, redirecting to appropriate HR personnel for resolution when necessary (Benefits, Recruitment, etc.).
  • Handle employee verification requests promptly and accurately.
  • Oversees the document management of various records, including paper format and electronic (BDM).
  • Assist in processing electronic personnel action forms (ePAF) within the HRIS database.
  • Assist in tracking onboarding tasks for all candidates. Follows up as necessary to ensure timely completion of onboarding documentation.
  • Assist with posting positions on job boards through the Applicant Tracking system.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate information on all external recruiting sites (e.g. Indeed) and college/university alumni job boards.
  • Assist in effectuating the pre-employment processes (E-Verify), and new employee onboarding activities, and tracks progress for completion.
  • Run scheduled reports on a regular basis.
  • Monitor and record sick and vacation time for union employees.
  • Assist with planning employee service recognition program.
  • Maintain holiday calendar and publish online.
  • In collaboration with Director, handle paperwork related to leaves of absence (FML, PFL), and maintain accurate records.
  • Process workers compensation claims, as needed
  • In collaboration with Director or designee, determine eligibility for long-term disability, communicating with benefits provider.
  • Upload retiree information on retirees to our third-party administrator.
  • In collaboration with the Benefits team,
    • Test NYMC Benefits setup for new plan years, open enrollment and implementation.
    • Set up NYMC Benefits rates in Banner.
    • Review and completes Affordable Care Act.
  • Follow up with all things related to COBRA.
  • Assist with offboarding employees as necessary.
  • Reconcile various invoices and initiate payment for vendor bills such as medical providers.
  • Input requisitions into finance module; may research pricing as needed.
  • Provide administrative support as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


Education & Prior Expereince:

  • Bachelor's Degree, with 1 year of work-related experience (including internships) preferred.
  • Equivalent work-related experience of 4 or more years of administrative experience, preferably in Human Resources, may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.

Technical Skills: 

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with Banner human capital management (HCM) software a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of faculty, staff, and management.
  • Ability to work independently.

Minimum Salary

USD $40,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $50,000.00/Yr.
